The Rule

"Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received". (Ephesians 4:1)

The Rule of a Community is the instrument through which the Holy Spirit guides the Sisters in daily spiritual growth and discipline. The Sisters must attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on Sundays and on other occasions whenever possible, especially on Feast Days of the Community's Patrons.

The Divine Office, sanctifying the hours of the day, is

prayed daily. All Sisters must pray Mattins and Evensong. Many Sisters are able to pray one or more of the Lesser Offices as well. The Community uses its own, Order of the Divine Office of The Servants of the Sacred Cross, for the praying of all of the Offices.

Periods of silent prayer and meditation are scheduled daily. Sisters attend Retreats and Quiet Days and use devotional aids such as the Rosary, Orthodox Prayer Rope and Stations of the Cross, if desired, to enhance and deepen their prayer life. Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament is encouraged as a frequent practice. There are guidelines for fasting and sacramental confession. Study, most especially of Holy Scripture, is paramount to the life of a Religious Sister. All Sisters will be guided by a Spiritual Director who has been approved by the Community. Sisters report on a regular basis to the Superior or Formation Director.
